Thelast10monthsinanutshell...

Not sure where to start considering I haven't been keeping up and A LOT has happened since my last post. Go back or start where we are now hmmmm
I guess I will do a quick recap if possible and this may be a slightly long post!

Let's start with the birth of our beautiful new baby boy! After making his statement and causing wonder over his mellow/stubborn personality, Miles Griffith Latimer decided to show up (with some help) 11 days late! Official stats, 8lbs 5ozs and 20.5 inches. Born May 21st at 6:39am. A small back story, I was attempting a VBAC and ended up needing to start out with a balloon dilation (ask me later) which put me into labor, however through the night Miles' heart rate started to dive and in true Latimer form (at least these Latimers) I went in for a C-section...

Healthy baby, happy family

We (including big sister) have smothered this little boy with love.  He so far has proven to be a chill little guy with big cheeks, a dimple, a wry smile and a penchant for milk.

Once mom and dad got over the shock of the life changer (one baby is so easy!), we realized how truly blessed we are with two beautiful, healthy happy kids. (No we really are not over the life changer and are still adjusting).

Let's move on before I get emotional...

Only 17 days later, little Landon Lien was born, one week early and in a rush to see the world. Zac and Jess were champs and Landon is so lucky to have such great parents.  I think the boys are going to be besties...

We hosted a fun Father's Day bbq complete with salmon, a new daddy, and 4 generation snapshot stolen...

Next up was Sawyer's 2 year old birthday party. Pretty sure tons of fun was had by all, even though it turned out to be a 90+ degree day and all the grown ups were wilting...the kids had a grand time in the little kiddie pool. Sawyer was a champ and actually ate a little more of her birthday cupcake this time (licked the frosting until about dusk). She enjoyed the birthday song (a little too much as it is still today one of the requests for bed time, but not to herself; we sing happy birthday to Auntie and Uncle and to the fan and the bag and the block...), she opened presents with wild abandon, and she pooped in her swimsuit like every birthday girl should! (Haha, I can't wait until she reads this when she's 18.)

The latest event was our annual trek up to the Crab Shack for the 4th of July festivities. It was one of the biggest parties yet with lots of good family time, made even more enjoyable by the fact that Lance's sister Laura, her wife Ellen and Cousin Alex were able to make it up from Colorado to see us and spend the holiday enjoying the cabin. We are realizing as a Lien family unit that some sort of plans for expansion need to happen...6 grown ups a 2 year old and two babies is going to burst the cabin to its seams.

And we are all caught up! I will be better about this...(and doing laundry and cleaning and planning meals...the world goes round). I will leave you with this...

Overdue...

...no excuses, just the beginning of the school year, starting a new grade level, getting back into the swing of things. All that and more, but we can talk about that later.  I just really stopped by to share our family pics we finally decided to have done.  Here are a few of my faves...

And then there's this one, which, I don't mean to embarrass Lance (he has been the one bugging me to get these up), but I think this one could be in a magazine!
What a good lookin' Daddy!

She's 1!

Man, I feel like I have more time, yet am getting less done...hmm how does that work. (That's my apology for not writing about her first birthday until almost a month later!)

Anyway, Sawyer is officially one, and Lance and I are officially 1-year parents! :) A big thank you to everyone who came and celebrated her birthday (and our parentness).  It was a fun day with lots of friends.  A huge thank you to Andy, our semi-pro photographer for catching some good moments and Erin our magical cake decorator.  Here's just a few choice shots from the day:

Right after her birthday we headed up to the cabin for our traditional 4th of July celebration. (This will officially be her first considering last year her parents had just been checked out of the hospital and were sitting on the couch staring at each other in a daze saying, "Where'd all the nurses go?" and  "What do we do now?" Here are a few shots to show the fun we had!

No no!

Yes, she's talking and that seems to be one of her favorite words to say! We have had some important events since the last post. First of all, Sawyer started walking!  I asked our nanny one day when she thought it would be...the next day or a few weeks still.  She replied with that night...and what do you know. (We knew about her psychic powers when we hired her!) Sawyer was only taking a few steps, but now she is walking across rooms.  She also has been working on some words (mama, dada, dog, no-no, ball), it's pretty fun to watch her little mind work and her little body go, go, go.

We also had another very important event in Sawyer's life; her baptism. The ceremony went well with Dick singing his mother's favorite hymn, and Sawyer hammed it up like the best of them.  We feel very blessed to have the family and friends we have.  Thank you to Judy for putting on an excellent brunch afterward for everyone to enjoy.

Next...she's turning one!
