5 Months old...

And look what I can do!
Eat a football
Eat rice ceral (eat is a relative term, it's more like let rice cereal get everywhere!)
Roll over on my tummy and then get pissed because I can't roll off it.
Sit in my Jump-a-Roo
The official monthly pic...and her winning smile! So many talents!

My First Thanksgiving!

Never again will Sawyer be able to say that the turkey weighed more than she does! We had a beautiful dinner at Uncle Zac and Aunt Jess' house. Way too much food (really good food), lots of great family, and time spent together laughing and talking. It was a great Thanksgiving. Lance and I are very aware of the many things we have to be thankful for.

All the growing pics...

Create your own video slideshow at animoto.com.

4 months old

Sawyer is 4 months old!  Some new abilities?  She can put her toes in her mouth and sucks on them like they are her thumb, she can roll from her back to her side (but no complete roll over yet), her head is completely stable, she drools and spits up all day necessitating what Lance calls her accessory (a bib) and last she giggles at the most random times so we can never seem to reproduce the moment and get it on video...ahhh well.
Oh one more development...she loves basketball, as proven by this photo.

Sawyer was a happy ladybug for Halloween.  No we were not those parents that paraded their newborn around trick or treating, we just bought our own bag of candy.  But I can't wait until next year!

Trip to the Pumpkin Patch...

...that wasn't really a pumpkin patch.  We headed out to meet Jay, Missy and Iain at the pumpkin patch fpr a little fall festivities.  We showed up to a line 20 cars deep and overwhelmed traffic directors telling us to park a half mile away and catch a shuttle.  30 minutes and a half mile walk later we got there!  We found ourselves in the middle of toddler wonderland!  Peacocks, pigs, cats, and roosters wandering around.  A hay maze, pony rides, horses, a rope swing, a s'mores pit, electric miniature tractors, popcorn...and TONS of people.  Turns out it was a Groupon day and everyone bought that Groupon!
Did you notice my list was missing pumpkins?  So pumpkins were there, they were just scattered around seemingly as decoration.  We decided not to hike giant pumpkins and Sawyer back to the car, so needless to say we went to the pumpkin patch and didn't get any pumpkins!

3 months

3 months seems to mean almost rolling over, almost giggling, and almost talking...well not quite, but lots more noises like she REALLY wants to say something.  We've been going on hikes, taking walks, spending time with family, and celebrating birthdays lately.  Here's a little snapshot.
For those just tuning in, we periodically measure Sawyer next to this basketball and football so we can see her growth.  No, we are not already encouraging sports and hoping she gets interested just by being next to the balls...maybe.

And what a beautiful wedding it was...

Lance and I were proud to stand by Zac and Jessica as they got married this weekend at Alderbrook Resort.  There was some worry about the weather, but as if on cue, the clouds broke and it stopped raining  in time for them to take pictures and have an outdoor ceremony.  Then as we all headed inside to get the party started, it started raining again!  As my dad said, "Good things happen to good people."

With dad at the rehearsal dinner.

The two love birds at the rehearsal dinner.

Sawyer was able to meet a lot of family members that hadn't met her yet, but with all the commotion and excitement, she had a tough day and wasn't as "pass around-able" as usual.  She was also "that" baby that started crying during the speeches and set off the other 4 (yes 4!) babies that were in attendance! Oh well!  With that being said she slept for 8 hours that night and was quite a peach the next morning...hmmmmm.  Here's a few pics
Thanks to Grandpa Dick for watching her during the ceremony and a lot of the reception so Mom and Dad could be a big part of the festivities and even get in a dance move or two!

Finally she is down for the count, in time to pose with some handsome dudes and some pretty ladies.

What a great family! (Auntie Jess could be found on the dance floor--all night!)

The Newlyweds took off for Victoria the next morning and we were all there to give them a good send off.  Fantastic weekend!

10 weeks! (9/10)

She started smiling as soon as I brought out the basketball!  She's gonna be a baller!
Not quite ready for this yet!  Almost...

Summer livin'

So much to post, so little time!
Here's the last two and a half weeks in a snapshot:
Smiles - Sawyer can smile now! And has been for a few weeks, it is amazing the joy she brings when she busts out the gummy smile.  They are pretty easy to get out of her, although I find myself making some great faces to get her to keep it up.
Smile:
Me trying to get her to smile more:

Next up is that mom went back to work..back to the grind.  Tough transition to be honest.  The first few days were just training, so not as tiring.  We are so thankful that we have family and friends willing to babysit for a few days a month.  We have care figured out until January and then when I go back to work full time, we have to figure something else out.  But it felt okay to leave her with someone I know rather than a total stranger.  School actually starting was a whole different issue!  Talk about exhaustion...I forget every year how tough the first few weeks are with kindergarteners.  As my prinicipal said, "It's just like child birth, if you remembered, you would never do it again!"  Agreed :)  Ask me again in 6 weeks how it is going...

Helping in mommy's classroom...okay sleeping in mommy's classroom.
First trip to the cabin!
Sawyer made her first trip up to the cabin for Labor Day weekend.  Dad went crabbing, Sawyer napped, Mom helped with wedding crafts, Sawyer napped, we all celebrated Papa's birthday, Sawyer wore her party dress, and then napped, mom and dad went for a bike ride, we all went to the ice cream stand, Sawyer napped... it was a true cabin trip and we all can't wait to go again soon.
Sawyer with the bride-to-be during our cocktail tasting hour (or 4).

In her party dress for Papa's birthday.

Napping while everyone else eats ice cream cones as big as her head :)

Toasting (and eating) some giant s'mores.
The end of a great weekend!

Trip to Alki

We decided it was time to take Sawyer over to our old stomping grounds....West Seattle.  We drove by Grandpa's house and then headed down to Alki just as the sun was starting to peek out.  We went for a walk along the beach and stopped for our favorite fish and chips.
Then we sat and watched some beach vollevball.

Mom is cleared!

I went to my 6 week post partum check up on Wednesday and was cleared!  When I asked about exercise she said, "Anything!  Whatever you were doing before you were pregnant, abdominal exercises, anything."  That was fantastic to hear...Flag football here I come!  That day I went for a run.  The outcome?  Well, I ran as fast as Lance could walk, my new boobs were completely annoying :), and I was sore in places I've never been sore before.  But it felt great to get out there and do it again!  Until the next day when I felt like an old lady.  Baby steps, I guess.

Visiting some Lakeridge friends

Sawyer and I had lunch and chatted with some of the families from my Lakeridge kindergarten class.  The moms were so excited to hold her and the kids could see what had been in my belly all year!

First babysitters!

Thanks to Zac and Jess,  Lance and I were able to go out to dinner for our 3rd wedding anniversary.  When we left Sawyer with them, I was definitely more nervous than they were.  When we got back Zac claimed she was "a perfect angel."  Who knew?  Now we can leave her there whenever we want!

Pig Roast!

Sawyer's first pig roast!  The food was amazing and Sabi shared her pictures from her trip around Europe.
Too bad Sawyer slept through most of it :)
