Overdue...

...no excuses, just the beginning of the school year, starting a new grade level, getting back into the swing of things. All that and more, but we can talk about that later.  I just really stopped by to share our family pics we finally decided to have done.  Here are a few of my faves...

And then there's this one, which, I don't mean to embarrass Lance (he has been the one bugging me to get these up), but I think this one could be in a magazine!
What a good lookin' Daddy!

She's 1!

Man, I feel like I have more time, yet am getting less done...hmm how does that work. (That's my apology for not writing about her first birthday until almost a month later!)

Anyway, Sawyer is officially one, and Lance and I are officially 1-year parents! :) A big thank you to everyone who came and celebrated her birthday (and our parentness).  It was a fun day with lots of friends.  A huge thank you to Andy, our semi-pro photographer for catching some good moments and Erin our magical cake decorator.  Here's just a few choice shots from the day:

Right after her birthday we headed up to the cabin for our traditional 4th of July celebration. (This will officially be her first considering last year her parents had just been checked out of the hospital and were sitting on the couch staring at each other in a daze saying, "Where'd all the nurses go?" and  "What do we do now?" Here are a few shots to show the fun we had!

No no!

Yes, she's talking and that seems to be one of her favorite words to say! We have had some important events since the last post. First of all, Sawyer started walking!  I asked our nanny one day when she thought it would be...the next day or a few weeks still.  She replied with that night...and what do you know. (We knew about her psychic powers when we hired her!) Sawyer was only taking a few steps, but now she is walking across rooms.  She also has been working on some words (mama, dada, dog, no-no, ball), it's pretty fun to watch her little mind work and her little body go, go, go.

We also had another very important event in Sawyer's life; her baptism. The ceremony went well with Dick singing his mother's favorite hymn, and Sawyer hammed it up like the best of them.  We feel very blessed to have the family and friends we have.  Thank you to Judy for putting on an excellent brunch afterward for everyone to enjoy.

Next...she's turning one!

Almost 10 months

We had our first flying adventure and I must say Sawyer was a champ. We had a 2.5 hour flight to Denver, 3 hour layover with lots of crawling and standing at the windows and licking the glass, and then a short 50 minute flight to Durango. Sawyer seemed to love it! We had a great time enjoying sun, family, and the beauty of Colorado. Here's a few pics from the trip.

And here is just a small sample of some of Sawyer's current favorite things to do:

Play her piano

 Dump books out
And read ;)
Hey...you have something on your face!

Here are my attempts to get her ball picture taken (I think we need to try it in a chair or some sort of confined space...hmmm.  I'm just not fast enough):

8 Months...and then some

I guess I'm just having a hard time keeping up. It seems like as soon as I find time to take her monthly picture, I turn around and it's time to do it again! Sawyer is continuing to surprise us with new tricks every day. One day she was army crawling and the next she was on all fours. She is moving all over the place now, and is curious as can be which I think is a good quality, although can get one into trouble, say when one decides to see what the food Izzy eats tastes like! Lance got there just in time to see her with a few kibbles stuck to her lip and about 6 in her mouth. The next morning, I was trying to get ready for school and found her in the liquor cabinet...I think we have an adventurous one.
We haven't had many field trips since the last post. Too much rain and too much work makes for a dull blog. She's still eating like a champ and trying new foods all the time. Favorites continue to be applesauce, yams and cereal. Least favorites seem to be cottage cheese, tofu and meat...I know, eeew is what you're thinking, but we are trying everything. How do we know she doesn't like it, you might ask? I'm going with the gagging and choking sounds she makes after taking a bite as my first clue. Here are a few snapshots of her daily doings.
And here is the 8 month picture (attempt).
Sawyer continues to get to spend weekly visits with Mormor and Papa, Grandma J and Grandpa Dick. I can't tell who enjoys it more...we can't thank you all enough.

7.5 months!

It's been a while and so much has changed! Our little Bean is growing like crazy. We are guessing that at her next doctor's appointment she will not follow her lifelong trend of being long and skinny. She's finally filling out.
And eating all kinds of fun foods...to name a few: peas, squash, avocado, rice, oatmeal, carrots, applesauce and prunes. She's a great eater.
Another new skill is sitting all by herself...at first she needed the help of some pillows, but now she can do it all on her own!
She's also perfected the army crawl and is on the verge of real crawling. We've recently had to baby proof all low storage places.
Another adventure of late is a trip to the swimming pool. She loved it and we can't wait to go back.
We survived the snow storm and enjoyed some sledding.
With all those updates I will leave you with her 7 month picture (forgot to do a 6 month one)...I still say she prefers the basketball...hmmmm.
